Charge nurse Angelica Ponce

Angelica has sacrificed her life with a smile on her face and no complaints , her priority has been her patients and who she can help at this time. She is currently working at Park Avenue Healthcare & Wellness Centre in the COVID positive unit. There are not many nurses wiling to take on this job and because of this Angelica has been left to take many Double shifts , almost daily. she has been staying at a hotel to prevent her family from getting sick. She has made the ultimate sacrifice not only by always being available when no one else is, but also leaving her home and family for weeks.

What other characteristics has your Hero demonstrated to support this nomination?

Her positive spirit uplifts her patients who are going through really tough times. Always coming in with a positive attitude and smile on her face eager to work.

Describe the impact of your Hero on a local, regional, national, and/or international level.

Angelica has really helped and continues to help a community that we sometimes forget, our elderly family members, she has comforted them and cared for them even in their last moments as their life was taken by this terrible Virus.

Is there anything else about your Hero that you would like the committee to consider?

She has changed her entire life and sacrificed her own marriage to really give herself to being a nurse.
