Darla Lackey

Darla saw a need during covid and her 501(c)(3) nonprofit has been feeding over 1000 family’s each month since march 2020. Darla Lackey is the hero of Fort Smith Arkansas. Her crew of unpaid staff do so much for this community. And because her rival nonprofit is related tot he mayor Darla and Pay it forward Fort Smith Food Pantry are terrible mistreated by what wants to be completion. Darla never lets this ugly by other stop her though. She helps 1000’s each month. With job, food, clothing, sign language and translation classes.

What other characteristics has your Hero demonstrated to support this nomination?

Strength and wisdom. Kindness and compassion. Love, loyalty and honesty.

Describe the impact of your Hero on a local, regional, national, and/or international level.

Darla is a fighter. Her and the unpaid volunteers are 100% on the frontlines of the covid fight in our community. This team is the team that cleans out homes after the passing of covid victims. This is darla and she has heart.

Is there anything else about your Hero that you would like the committee to consider?

I would like you to consider that Darla Lackey has been bullied by the larger nonprofits in this community. Darla still fights hard every single day for the nonprofit she loves so much.
