Margie Hammonds is a full time nurse educator at Scotland Memorial Hospital. She has always provided excellence nursing care through her kind words, attention to detail, and empathy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has worked long 15 hour shifts floated to different floors of the hospital to help where needed. She is a true Ray of sunshine and always seems to brighten up patients rooms as well as the overall work atmosphere at Scotland Memorial. She continues to prove her dedication to nursing as she works to produce some of the best highly trained CNAs and RNs. I appreciate her service and believe she is the definition of a true healthcare hero!

Empathy, dedication and resiliency.

Describe the impact of your Hero on a local, regional, national, and/or international level.

At the local level she has worked long (15) hour shifts to accommodate the needs of Scotland Memorial hospital. She has followed the required protocols and wears the appropriate PPE as needed. This helps to reduce the transmission of COVID local, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Is there anything else about your Hero that you would like the committee to consider?

She has saved many lives due to her attention to detail and advocacy.
